Model of ZAMMAMA!

Who is the pretty little girl in some of ZAMMAMA pictures?

Her name is Chimwemwe, which means joy and happiness in a local language in Zambia. As her name shows, she brings joy and happiness to ZAMMAMA’s workshop.

Her mother walks 5 km for more than one hour, with Chimwemwe on her back, to join ZAMMAMA program.

While the mother cut and sew material, she is also busy breast feeding, changing diaper (just a towel around the bottom) … Everyone at the place has to handle the needles and the scissors with care.

Once the mother learns how to make baby’s wear for ZAMMAMA products, she makes the same things for Chimwemwe out of a strip of her own fabric. Here both the mother and the baby enjoy vivid African fabric!

Chimwemwe was only 5 months old when ZAMMAMA project launched last year in August. Now she’s stood up, walks around and dances to songs!

We hope Chimwemwe and ZAMMAMA grow together, giving a lot of joy and happiness around them.
